Manchester United attacker Facundo Pellistri scored his maiden senior international goal for Uruguay in Thursday’s 4-0 friendly win over Mexico - but the match will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.
Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez netted a hattrick in the contest but a memorable game for both him and Pellistri is at risk of being overshadowed by crowd trouble.
A number of home Mexico fans were irate at seeing their side go four goals down just four minutes after half-time. On 54 minutes, the referee was forced to halt the match due to crowd trouble in the stands.
The friendly was again paused and then eventually ended just before the clock hit 90 minutes when several spectators ran onto the pitch.
