It was on this day six years ago that David Moyes’ uninspiring reign as Manchester United boss was brought to an end. There is very little to look back fondly on from the Scot’s time in charge at Old Trafford, but maybe his transfer dealings can offer a crumb of comfort.
Five players were sold by United under Moyes and we have gone back and decided if the right decisions were made. It was only three days into Moyes’ reign that the sale of Mats Moller Daehli to Norwegian side Molde, then managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, was sanctioned.
The fee Molde paid was not disclosed, although it was reported the deal was worth £1.5m with United retaining a first option on the teenager who was named the club’s Young Player of the Year in 2012.
