Meanwhile, United have failed to win any of their last three Premier League games but can take some confidence from the morale-boosting 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Sunday.
The Reds have also been boosted by the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season, though he will not be in the dugout on Thursday.
