Fernandes, 29, is believed to be receptive to leaving United after four-and-a-half years amid the possibility that the club could fail to qualify for European competition for the first time in ten years.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are understood to be interested. United would prefer to keep club captain Fernandes, who is under contract until 2026.
The club also have the option of an additional year. However, a hefty offer for the attacking midfielder could tempt United to cash in on Fernandes, who is not among the quartet of players not for sale.
Fernandes turns 30 in September but has high resale value due to his form and prominence at club and international level with Portugal.
