Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester United players have doubts that Bruno Fernandes will remain at the club next season. Fernandes, 29, is believed to be receptive to leaving United after four-and-a-half years amid the possibility that the club could fail to qualify for European competition for the first time in ten years.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are understood to be interested. United would prefer to keep club captain Fernandes, who is under contract until 2026.
The club also have the option of an additional year. However, a hefty offer for the attacking midfielder could tempt United to cash in on Fernandes, who is not among the quartet of players not for sale.
Fernandes turns 30 in September but has high resale value due to his form and prominence at club and international level with Portugal.
