Both announcements were made within hours of each other, with Lingard’s exit confirmed shortly after Pogba’s. Neither decision will come as a shock to United fans, particularly Lingard’s departure.
The England international’s exit has been on the cards for over a year now, having missed out on a move to West Ham last year in favour of staying at Old Trafford, only to be left further frustrated by his lack of opportunities.
