Over 27,000 United fans responded to the poll, with two clear favourites as to who should be named player of the year. Shaw gained 48 per cent of the vote with 13,455 votes, narrowly beating Fernandes into first place.

Attacking midfielder Fernandes earned 46 per cent of the vote, with a total number of 12,499 - just 956 votes behind Shaw. The duo were clearly out in front of the rest of their teammates, with the next highest vote share being Scott McTominay at just three per cent.
