Leny Yoro is set to become Manchester United’s second signing of the summer, taking the club’s top-end spend to £95m. It is thought Sir Jim Ratcliffe is only permitting an overall net expenditure of around £50m, with just over £10m received for the sales of Donny van de Beek and Willy Kambwala.

United have meanwhile agreed a £26.7m fee from Marseille for Mason Greenwood. A sum of £36m was paid out to Bologna for the acquisition of Joshua Zirkzee, who is currently on a short break after his inclusion in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.

He missed Monday’s friendly in Norway against Rosenborg and might also be exempt from Saturday’s fixture with Rangers at Murrayfield. United begin their pre-season tour of the US on July 28 when they face Arsenal in California. Zirkzee will have joined up with the squad by then as will Yoro thanks to a decision made early this summer.
