The city council says that while ‘united in our grief’ Mancunians would honour those that have died by working together and ‘playing their part’ to beat the virus.
Manchester’s Central Library will be lit up on March 23 as part of a national day of reflection proposed by charity Marie Curie for those who have died during the pandemic.
A minute’s silence will be held at midday, with people also encouraged to create a ‘beacon of remembrance’ by shining phones, lights and candles into the sky at 8pm.
