Manchester Day is back, with organisers promising it is set to be 'even bigger and better' with 'day-to-dusk' celebrations. Set to take place on Saturday July 29 this year, the city centre will see music, food and pop-up performances from 12 noon to 9pm.
Instead of a parade snaking through the city's streets, there will be a closing 'special night celebration' at the end of the day, Manchester City Council have said. The Council is working with creative partners including Walk the Plank and Global Grooves on finalising the programme for a 'jam-packed, fun-filled day'.
The city's streets and squares will come to life with all kinds of unexpected things to see and do, and with roads closed to create more space for families to roam safely and enjoy what's on offer.
