The list of candidates for this year’s Manchester City Council election have been confirmed. Nominations to run in the election officially closed at 4pm on Friday (April 5), with polling day being Thursday, May 2.
In all, 33 seats are up for grabs. That’s because one seat is available in every one of Manchester’s 32 wards, but Didsbury East has two vacancies — due to the resignation of Labour’s James Wilson last month.
Polls will be open in the election on May 2 from 7am to 10pm. The deadline to register to vote is 11:59pm on April 16. Residents will need a photo ID to vote, with a list of accepted forms here.
If you do not have any of the accepted forms of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate online here until 5pm on April 24.
