Heavy rain and strong winds have resulted in travel disruption across the UK today, January 1, impacting rail, road and air travel.
Overnight Manchester was battered by downpours, resulting in localised flooding and road closures. Both Northern and TransPennine Express warned that train services had been impacted with travellers urged to delay their journeys until the afternoon.
A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for the North West and Wales, which is in force until 11am this morning.
A yellow warning for wind also covers the South, Wales and the Midlands, in place until 3pm. Ryanair has warned passengers that there could be disruption to flights today.
