The owner of a phone which was in a 30-minute call with the prime suspect in Madeleine McCann's disappearance shortly before she vanished has been named.

German paedophile Christian Brueckner, 43, spoke on the phone roughly an hour before Madeleine vanished. The number was today identified by Portuguese media as registered to a Diogo Silva.

Detectives said the McCann suspect was on a 30-minute phone call that placed him in Praia da Luz around an hour before Madeleine is believed to have gone missing the night of May 3, 2007.

Police had launched a hunt to identify and locate the person who spoke to Brueckner, taking the unusual step on Monday night of releasing two local phone numbers from that call.
