Ole Gunnar Solskjaer "saw and understood" that too many of the wrong players were being signed by Manchester United, according to Peter Schmeichel.

The Norwegian took over at Old Trafford in December 2018 on an interim basis before being handed the job permanently. In his first summer at the helm he employed a transfer strategy that targeted young, homegrown players.

Since then he has also signed Odion Ighalo and Bruno Fernandes, both of whom have had a big impact. And Schmeichel, who won five Premier League titles at Old Trafford, believes Solskjaer is beginning to return United's identity with the help of several on pitch chiefs.
