Manchester United are said to be waiting on a fresh bid from Roma for their defender Chris Smalling as they look to free up room in their squad for new signings.
Smalling impressed on loan at Roma last season, making 30 Serie A appearances and helping his side towards a fifth place finish.
He has now returned to Old Trafford following the expiry of his loan, but is believed to be keen on moving to Roma on a permanent basis after enjoying his spell in Italy.
United rejected a £13m bid from Roma for the 30-year-old in November last year, but according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano they are anticipating another offer in the coming days.
