Manchester United have confirmed that Angel Gomes will leave the club after rejecting the offer of a new deal. The teenager is highly thought of at Old Trafford and they had tabled several offers in an effort to retain his services.
But Gomes, who has been in the club's academy from a young age, will seek pastures new. The 19-year-old became the first player born in the 2000s to appear for United when he played in the final game of the 2016/17 season against Crystal Palace.
His departure will come as a blow to United who have made a conscious effort to give academy talent more of an opportunity, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had expected his exit.
