Man suffers head injuries after being attacked with weapon outside Sainsbury's

The incident happened on Lee Lane in Horwich just after 9.30pm on Saturday (April 10). Police say a 26-year-old man was assaulted with a weapon before running into the store with a head injury.

Witnesses claim he had tried to stop the gang stealing items from the shop. Paramedics were called but his injuries were not believed to be serious.

The group fled the scene. Cllr Stewart Burke, who witnessed the incident, said last night: “A gentleman has been attacked by a gang this evening at Sainsbury’s. “He tried to stop some of them from pinching some
