A man was stabbed to death in a 'shocking incident' at a house in Oldham. Police were called to an address in Fifth Avenue shortly after 5.05pm to reports of a 'disturbance' involving a group of men.
One man had suffered fatal stab wounds and died at the scene, say police. A large area has been cordoned off and a murder investigation is underway.
Shocked residents reported how a group of men got out of a car armed with a machete, an axe and a knife shortly before the attack.
Detectives say it appeared to be a 'targeted confrontation'. A 'bladed weapon' was recovered close by and initial enquiries suggest the man was stabbed, said police in a statement. "No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing," said a spokesman.
