Man slapped girlfriend for stripping bedsheets so he couldn't go back to sleep

A man who slapped his girlfriend after she stripped the sheets off their bed to stop him going back to sleep in the afternoon has been jailed.Declan Gillies, 21, objected when his partner, Emma Louise Petrie, told him to get up and go to the local shop - even though it was already 1.30 pm.Prosecutor James Moncrieff told Falkirk Sheriff Court: "They began to argue and he got up eventually."On him leaving, she stripped the bed sheets off so when he returned he couldn't go back to bed."It became heated and they began shouting at each other, and he slapped her to the side of her face, causing her glasses to fly from her face."Gillies then left the flat, near Westfield Park, Falkirk, where the incident had occurred, and police were called.He was later arrested, cautioned and charged, and made no reply.Appearing by video link at Falkirk Sheriff Court, Gillies, of Knightswood, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to domestic assault.Falkirk Live brings you the latest headlines from Falkirk and beyond.But did you know all the ways you can stay informed with us?We share live news and exclusive scoops every day so make sure you're following us so we can keep you informed on all things Falkirk!The incident happened on July 20th (2021).Solicitor James McNair, defending, said: "There was an argument.
