Man jailed for bail breach holiday to Tenerife with ex-girlfriend

A 44-year-old man has been jailed after he breached a court order just six days after it was made. Allan Dowden was made subject of a two year non-harassment order on December 15 last year with the condition he doesn’t approach or contact his partner, Genna Mellough.But on December 21, a mere six days later, Dowden breached the order by going on holiday with Mellough to Tenerife as he “couldn’t do Christmas on his own”.

The procurator fiscal depute yesterday told Paisley Sheriff Court that Mellough had booked a holiday to Tenerife and was due to fly out on December 20.

However, the court heard Mellough missed her flight that day and rebooked her holiday for the following day. The fiscal depute explained: “Ms Mellough then attended at the Holiday Inn at the airport to stay for the night.“Around 5am on December 21, Mellough was in the hotel herself when she got a phone call from the accused stating, ‘I need to come with you, I don’t want to do Christmas on my own.
