A man aged in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of a sex attack on a three-year-old girl in a country park on Bank Holiday Monday.
The incident took place in a wooded area of Fort Victoria Country Park, Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight, shortly after 3pm. Police say the suspect is not known to the child or her family.
Detective Chief Inspector Liam Davies said: "This was a very serious incident and there will be an increased police presence in the area whilst we examine a number of lines of enquiry. "The child, a three-year-old girl, and their family are receiving specialist support while we seek to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
