Derek Wroe, 50, from Reddish, died after crashing on the M6 on Saturday (March 27). Emergency services were called at around 2:50pm to a report that a car had collided with the nearside barrier of the motorway.
The collision involved an Audi A5 and happened on the northbound carriageway near Roundthwaite, south of junction 38 (Tebay).
Witnesses told police that a man, believed to be the driver of the Audi, had left the scene on foot, heading in the direction of the A685.
