Man flown to hospital as air ambulance makes dramatic mercy dash to Prestwick emergency

A man was airlifted to hospital after crews made a mercy dash to an Ayrshire housing estate at the weekend yesterday.Medics touched down at a field near Kirkhill Crescent in Prestwick to support two ambulances who were dealing with an incident.The man, described as being in his 50s, was flown to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow after emergency services raced to the scene around 11.50am.Footage has shown the moment the chopper takes off just minutes after the man was loaded in by crew members.It was captured by a local resident who also noticed army troops were at the scene in place of paramedics.
