Police were called to the incident at around 11am on Saturday, April 24, just after junction 17 for Prestwich and Whitefield on the motorway.

A man - who has now been identified as 45-year-old Jan Kocurek - walked into the carriageway from the hard shoulder. A Ford Transit was travelling clockwise passing under the bridge of Bury New Road when it collided with him in lane two.
