The 19-year-old right back was picked as the best in his position in the Spanish second division after a campaign that saw City’s sister club reach the promotion play-offs - where they lost to Rayo Vallecano at the weekend.
But Couto made it plain, when he signed for the Blues, that he had pulled out of an agreed deal with Barcelona, and snubbed an offer from Bayern Munich, because he wanted to link up with Pep Guardiola.
