Manchester City are reported to be the favourites to sign Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres. According to Sports Illustrated (as per Villarreal based journalist Xavi Jorquera Marquez), Pep Guardiola's side are now the front-runners to sign the in-demand 25-year-old centre-back.
Torres has impressed with his recent performances both in La Liga and also in Europe, helping his side to the Champions League semi-final last season.
The Spaniard might not be able to help with City's need for a new left-back, but being a left-footed defender has made him a wanted man this transfer window.
Guardiola favours having a balance of left and right-footed defenders in his team, and has stated the importance of Laporte's presence in his side for that very reason.
