Manchester United never expected to need a left-back this summer but circumstances beyond their control have them scrambling for a late addition.
News of Luke Shaw's injury came as a huge blow for United after their 2-0 defeat at Tottenham earlier this month. Confirmation of a muscular issue initially suggested the 28-year-old would be out for 'a number of weeks', although there are fears it could be closer to two months.
Tyrell Malacia is yet to feature this season due to injury, while Alvaro Fernandez could follow Brandon Williams and leave on loan.
As such, United have entered the market for a short-term fix and are weighing up several loan options. Among those is Marcos Alonso, who is currently at Barcelona after joining them on a free last summer.
