Manchester City have completed the £42m transfer of Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United, with the potential to pay an additional £3m based on performance-related targets.
City have moved to add Phillips to their squad after seeing club captain Fernandinho depart this summer. Phillips will take the No.4 shirt last worn at the club by Vincent Kompany, a defender who achieved so much at the Etihad that there is a statue of him outside the ground.
The 26-year-old has signed a six-year deal and explained why he is so happy to join.
