Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after toddler hit by train in Glasgow

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a two-year-old boy was hit by a train in Glasgow. Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics raced to Garrowhill train station at around 7.30pm on Sunday, July 2, following reports of two people being injured on the track.

The 26-year-old and the toddler were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow where they remain after sustaining injuries as a result of the incident.The child's injuries are believed to be minor, while the man is in a non-life-threatening condition.Cops arrested the man on Monday, July 3 on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is under police observation in hospital while he recovers from his injuries. Authorities have described the incident as isolated and are not looking for anyone else in connection.

Specially trained officers are supporting the young boy's family.Detective Chief Inspector Marc Francey from BTP said: “This was a shocking but isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection.
