A man was arrested after reports of a break in at a Lidl supermarket in Standish in the early hours of Thursday morning (January 4).

Police descended on the supermarket, on Preston Road in Standish at around 3.20am. It is understood the shop was closed with CSI teams at the scene throughout the morning.

A man in his 30s was arrested by officers at the scene on suspicion of burglary. He remains in custody to be questioned in relation to the incident. Try MEN Premium now with our amazing New Year offer...

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 3.20am this morning (Thursday 4 January 2024), officers were called to reports of a burglary at a business premises on Preston Road, Standish. "A man in 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary and remains in custody for questioning."
