Man appears in court charged with murder following death of grandmother in Aberdeen

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a grandmother in Aberdeen. Sherry Bruce, 58, was found seriously injured at a property on Glenbervie Road in the Torry area at around 6pm on Sunday.

Emergency services attended but Ms Bruce was pronounced dead.A 26-year-old man was also found injured at the scene and is currently being treated in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he remains in a stable condition.Thai Hoang, also known as Beaton, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court today charged with Ms Bruce's murder.Hoang, of Aberdeen, also faces a separate charge of attempted murder.He made no plea and was remanded in custody.The case was committed for further examination and he is due to appear in court again in the next eight days.In a statement released through Police Scotland, Ms Bruce's devastated family paid tribute to the 'kind and caring mum'.The statement read: "She was very family oriented and devoted to her job."She was loyal and a wonderful grandmother and will be sorely missed."
