A man and woman from Wigan have been arrested on suspicion of the theft of 'historic stones' from a wall in Cheshire, police have revealed.
The pair, both aged 38, have been released on police bail after questioning, with the conditions of their bail banning them from entering the county.
Police said officers were called on May 9 to reports of 'historic stones' being stolen from a wall outside an address on Watery Lane, Winwick.
A white Ford Transit-style van was reported at the scene, but wasn't there when cops arrived. "Officers were deployed to the area and the van was subsequently located near to Four Lanes End in Tarporley, where a number of stones were also located.
