A man who collapsed in the back of a police van and suffered several seizures while handcuffed died days later having taken a lethal cocktail of drugs.

Ianec Boghiu was rushed to hospital on July 3, 2019 after suffering multiple seizures and two cardiac arrests while being detained by police in Tyldesley town centre.

The 28-year-old was arrested on suspicion of child abduction after officers received reports of a man in his underwear ‘grabbing women’ in the street and attempting to take a baby from its pram. Giving evidence during a jury inquest into his death at Bolton Coroner’s Court, four officers described Mr Boghiu as being ‘pale and clammy’ with ‘bulging eyes’ and ‘pupils like pin pricks’.
