A man who died on railway line in Rochdale has been named. The body of James Luther Bennett, 26, was discovered on Sunday evening.
Emergency services were alerted to a 'casualty on the tracks' at Smithy Bridge shortly before 6:35pm. READ MORE: Retired traffic warden who dubbed herself 'gangster granny' led outrageous secret double-life as a drug dealer Mr Bennett was then very sadly declared dead at the scene.
Services between Rochdale and Todmorden were temporarily halted for several hours on Sunday night, with replacement buses running, whilst officers dealt with the aftermath and carried out enquiries.
British Transport Police (BTP) said afterward the death was not being treated as suspicious and that a file would be passed to the coroner.
