A mum has spoken of her heartbreak after her son took his own life during lockdown following their coffee date just a few hours before.

Mike Penhalagan, 26, lost his job as a sign designer due to the coronavirus pandemic. His devastated mum Rachel Burton, from Shobdon, Herefordshire, believes the financial struggle took its toll on his mental health.

He was found dead on June 4 following a coffee catch-up with his mum. She recalled Mike, who lived in Worcester, as seeming 'full of joy' and looking forward to a job interview he had secured.
