A 24-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after being rescued from a lake at a country park in Oldham. The man got into difficulty in the water in the lake known as 'S ammy's Basin' at around 3pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday).
Members of the public rescued him and performed CPR, police said. Paramedics and police then arrived at the scene and the man was rushed to hospital.

Advanced paramedics, the incident response teams and heart and ambulance response vehicles were also called. In an appeal issued this morning, police asked any witnesses to come forward.
