Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) suspended all face-to-face assessments for disability and health benefits in March 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent UK-wide lockdown.
Since that time, paper-based and telephone assessments have been in place for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and other health benefit claims.
In a recent update, in response to the heightened lockdown restrictions, the DWP confirmed that face-to-face interviews would remain suspended “until further notice”.
However, Benefits and Work, reports that claimants who fail to attend a PIP telephone assessment could have their benefit claim stopped.
