A major Ayrshire road is to close to allow essential resurfacing work to take place this month.Motorists have been warned of delays on the A78 at Loans as teams carry out works on the northbound and southbound slip roads at the A78/ B746 Junction.Commuters will face diversions to access Troon and Loans between Tuesday, September 26 and Saturday, September 30.Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, are undertaking the works.The scheme, with a value of £395,700, will benefit users of the route each day, by improving the condition or the carriageway, and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.Signed diversions are set to be in place, with transport chiefs detailing the daily schedule of works and diversions.The programme of work is as follows: Tuesday, September 26, from 8pm until 6am on Wednesday, September 27: Tuesday, September 26 until Wednesday, September 27: Wednesday, September 27 until 8pm on Friday, September 29: Friday, September 29 8pm until Saturday, September 30 6am: Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
