John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

Maïwenn, French Director Of Latest Johnny Depp Movie, Sued For Allegedly Assaulting Journalist

Maïwenn, the director of Johnny Depp’s latest film, “Jeanne du Barry”, is being sued by Edwy Plenel, the editor-in-chief of Mediapart magazine, for allegedly assaulting him at a restaurant.

As reported by Variety, the complaint, filed on March 7, accuses Maïwenn of attacking Plenel in late February while he was dining at a restaurant in Paris. READ MORE: Johnny Depp’s Comeback Project ‘Jeanne du Barry’ To Open Cannes Film Fest According to the police complaint, Plenel was left “traumatized” by the encounter, in which Maïwenn allegedly came to his table and grabbed him by his hair before spitting in his face.

She didn’t say anything and left the venue immediately after the confrontation. Maïwenn’s latest film, starring Johnny Depp, is debuting at the Cannes Film Festival.

Despite the complaint being addressed a month ago, it leaked on Friday just before the new film was set to reach Cannes.
