Maïa Dunphy has revealed that her ‘warrior’ mum has been fighting cancer and had ‘major surgery’ just this week. The Irish presenter, 45, opened up about her family’s ‘rough year’ while talking to Kathryn Thomas, who was filling in for Ray D’Arcy on Radio 1, on Friday.
Reflecting on how her mum Helen has bravely faced her diagnosis, Maïa said: ‘She’s a warrior, and so stoic and so positive.’ Maïa candidly explained: ‘It’s been a rough year, and I haven’t said this publicly, but my mum was diagnosed with cancer back in January and it’s been a very rough few months. ‘And she just had a big operation this week… the thing about big major surgery is it’s all about it going to plan and no curveballs, and it did.’ Talking about how she’s coped
