Madeleine McCann suspect's cars to be 'ripped apart' to find crucial DNA samples

A former top cop has said that police will “rip apart” the suspect’s vehicles in the Madeleine McCann investigation in a bid to find crucial DNA evidence.

Detectives last night confirmed a 43-year-old German prisoner is now the prime suspect. German media reports have since circulated a mugshot and named him only as Christian B.

The man – who lived near the Portuguese resort where Madeleine vanished in 2007 – has been linked to an early 1980s camper van and a 1993 Jaguar XJR6.

Both of these vehicles are now in German police custody. Ex-chief inspector Mick Neville, who founded the Met Police’s Central Forensic Image Team in 2012, believes they could offer vital clues.
