Machete-wielding crooks posing as 'broadband workers' force way into terrified victims' home before demanding cash

Police are appealing for the public's help after a man was threatened by machete wielding crooks who forced their way into his home during a burglary in Wigan.

On March 10, police were called to reports of three men forcing their way into a home on Tinkersfield in Leigh and demanding money.

The victim had opened the door to a man who was asking if he had any broadband issues, when two other men appeared and forced their way into the house. READ MORE: Major tram services will not run through city centre for six days due to engineering works The men who were armed pushed the victim into the living room and threatened him with a machete before all three made off with cash.

Police were called to the home just after 7.30pm. Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone with information about a white Transit van that may have been in the area at the time and is suspected to have been used by those involved.
