Police are hunting three masked men who took off in a red saloon car after an attack involving a machete in Edinburgh in the early hours of Friday morning.
Officers raced to Main Street in the Davidson Mains area of the capital at 12.05am after receiving reports of a violent attack.
The victim, a 20-year-old man, had just left a pub on the busy road at around midnight when he was jumped by three men armed with a machete.The victim sustained serious injuries and was blue-lighted to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
The suspects, who were wearing balaclavas and dress in dark clothing, are believed to have fled the scene in a red saloon-type vehicle.A source said: "My sister stays down that way and she heard that apparently there has been a stabbing." The road was closed for hours on Friday morning between Quality Street and Corbiehill Road while police enquiries are carried out.
