M8 rush hour delays after early morning smash leaves motorists queuing

Motorists are being warned to expect heavy delays on the M8 in West Lothian after an early morning car crash. The collision took place on the eastbound carriageway near J3A Bathgate at around 7.30am on Friday.

First responders were called to the scene and managed to move the stricken motors off the carriageway around 20 minutes later.

However, Traffic Scotland is reporting that drivers are still facing knock on delays of more than 30 minutes.They tweeted: “M8 RTC now all clear on the M8 eastbound J3A Bathgate.

Both lanes are running. Traffic remains heavy back to Harthill.“Delays approx 35 minutes.”It is not currently known how many vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured during the collision.Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
