Sign up to the weekly West Lothian Courier newsletter for the latest West Lothian news and sport.The M8 motorway will shut over the weekend to search for a missing West Lothian man.William McDowell, also known as Billy, from Whitburn was reported missing in early August.The police say “it is out of character for Billy to not contact his friends or family” and are now stepping up their hunt.Officers will be shutting the M8 in both directions between junctions 4 and 4a for consecutive days on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20.The hard shoulder and lane one will be closed for twelve hours from 8am each day and motorists are advised to allow extra travel time if in the area.Inspector Myles Marshall said: “It is out of character.
