David Martindale admits he was once left in disbelief by Lyndon Dykes - who had no idea who Paul Gascoigne was after bumping into him in Tenerife.
The Aussie born Scot was given his break by Martindale at Livingston, who brought him in from Queen of the South in 2019 and gave him the platform to earn his move south to QPR.
He's also become one of Steve Clarke's star men as he enjoys an incredible late bloom, having only started playing football in his late teens.
So sparse was his knowledge of the sport that Martindale revealed he didn't even know he was looking at Scottish football royalty when Gascoigne was staying in their hotel while on pre-season duty.
