Lupita Nyong’o has dealt with many press junkets throughout her career, but she finds them to be one of the worst parts of being an actor.

The Oscar winner opened up about why she finds press junkets to be a “torture technique” and “irritating.” For those who don’t know, movie studios and TV networks/streamers will often host a press junket in the weeks leading up to a major release.

Actors will sit in a room while dozens of reporters come in and out for 5 to 10 minute interviews. Media figures will fly in from around the country or sometimes around the world to attend the junkets.

So, what did Lupita say? Keep reading to find out more… “I have to be honest. I’m going to tell you,” Lupita told Glamour about her distaste for press junket interviews. “You have to give each one of them attention, focus, and an articulate answer that you just gave to the person before,” she said. “That’s irritating.” Lupita noted that she has accepted that she can no longer give 100% of herself every day, despite trying to be perfect at the beginning of her career. “These days I allow myself to be a human being,” she said. “I’ve just found a way of forgiving myself for not being perfect.” There were a lot of other highlights in Lupita‘s new interview.
