Luncarty find clinical edge to net nine against Newburgh at Brownlands Park

Luncarty manager Robbie Holden finally witnessed the clinical performance he knew his side was capable of.And it meant the Bleachers batted aside Newburgh 9-1 at Brownlands Park in the East of Scotland League’s Conference B on Saturday.Having struggled to make the most of chances in recent weeks, bagging nine goals was a pleasing watch for the Luncarty coaching team.Striker Aaron Carlon netted twice while Ben Scarborough, Sean Fergus, Lewis Mackie, Kyle Green, Scott Sutherland and Olly Hamilton all scored one.

There was also an own goal.“It was a very pleasing performance and something we felt had been coming for weeks,” Holden explained to the Perthshire Advertiser.“The way we moved the ball was a continuation of parts of previous weeks, the difference being we continued the intensity to the end.”The final goal of the game in the closing minutes was one that Holden was delighted with.His players pieced together more than 30 passes before former St Johnstone youth Hamilton provided a lethal finish.“Olly’s goal was up there,” Holden smiled. “The number of passes, patience and then the finish to go with it was excellent.“Olly needed the goal and we saw the relief when he took his chance.”Luncarty remain seventh in the Conference B but are well-placed to mount a charge on those above them.And Holden certainly thinks if that level of performance and finishing is on display again, plenty points will be racked up.“It feels like I’ve been saying the same things for weeks around kicking on and starting a run,” Holden said.“We are cautiously optimistic with what we have seen the last couple of games that form is turning for certain players.“And they should all take confidence from the Newburgh game, especially in the final
