ITV bosses are reportedly set to launch a new Love Island spin-off show for contestants in their 40s and 50s with "normal bodies".Dubbed as the mature version of the hit ITV2 show, which sees young attractive singletons find love in a sunny Majorcan villa, “Your Mum, My Dad”, will allegedly start later this year ahead of hoped-for screening in 2023.The middle-aged singletons will go on a retreat and be “coupled up” behind the scenes by their own kids.READ MORE: ITV bosses ‘kick off’ at GMB's Richard Arnold as he reveals awkward backstage secret A TV source said: “Times change and the current generation in their 40s and 50s still care about how they look, are fit and healthy, into fashion and are ready to let their hair down.“This show will give those who settled down young a second chance at love while they still feel in their prime.“And, let’s face it, they know their minds, will be capable of intelligent conversation and are likely to be much more adventurous — all ingredients regular Love Island sometimes lacks.”The show is being primed as a pilot by Love Island maker Lifted Entertainment.They hope to turn the format, commissioned by ITV, into a full series.The news follows calls for older contestants after concerns the current youngsters are not emotionally mature enough for the experience.Love Island has faced huge backlash over the behaviour of certain contestant in recent weeks, with many viewers calling out early signs of abuse.In recent episodes, Luca Bish accused partner Gemma Owen of "flirting" with Billy Brown despite her insisting she wasn’t "entertaining" his advances.Meanwhile, Davide Sanclimenti has repeatedly branded Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu a "liar" during explosive rows - despite kissing another girl in Casa.
