Having your drink spiked is not a new phenomenon, though it's certainly sinister and yet another thing for us all to fear while enjoying a night out with friends.  For many years women have feared being drugged by someone – usually for predatory sexual purposes – by having a liquid or pill slipped into their drink. But, in the past few months, it’s become apparent that spiking has also been happening to victims via injections – often in public places such as bars.  Shockingly there have been almost 1,400 incidents of needle spiking reported in the UK in just five months, and police warned last month there was a dangerous “new phenomenon” of needle spiking.
