Love Island fans have finally had their subtitle pleas answered. Viewers tuning in to Monday 13 June’s episode on ITV Hub were pleased to find they could finally access subtitles of the show.
ITV had previously received backlash for the lack of subtitles, especially in light of casting their first ever deaf islander in dancer and model Tasha Ghouri.
Several viewers took to Twitter to voice their concern in the first week of the eighth series airing on ITV2 this week. “Love island is all about promoting its first deaf contestant but then doesn’t actually have any subtitles so that deaf people can watch it…?
it’s prerecorded too so there’s no reason why they can’t,” one wrote. Another viewer who is hard of hearing complained: “@ITVHubHelp please take note.
